DBMail 2.3 technology preview
The DBMail team is proud to announce the availability of DBMail 2.3.0, the first release in the new development cycle.
Please be advised that this is a technology preview only, aimed at testers and third party developers who want to start using new features.
The 2.3.x release cycle is not intended for production use. Wait for the 2.4 series or use the latest 2.2.x release for that.
New Features
The DBMail 2.3 technology preview cycle reflects ongoing development on new features that later will be incorporated into DBMail 2.4.
Currently, this includes:
- Single-instance attachment storage:
- Identical attachments that occur in multiple emails, will be stored in the database once. This cuts back on disk usage and generally provides a more clean and efficient storage model.
- User-defined labels:
- You can now "tag" any message with any label and store this label server-side for use from another client or location.
- Performance improvements:
- Several low-level enhancements produce a quicker user experience and improve DBMail's behaviour in handling large numbers of users concurrently.
Several other features are under consideration for being included in the 2.3 cycle. These mainly focus on improving performance and scalability, and generally making DBMail more attractive for enterprise deployments. Several parties have expressed an interest in sponsorship of an Oracle or DB2 driver.
